Now that spring has arrived here in the PNW, we’re starting to turn our focus to our garden again. So far we’ve planted blueberry bushes and sugar snap peas to go along with our fruit trees and raspberries. Do you keep a garden at all? What’s your favorite thing to grow?
Easter traditions: When we lived in France, the church bells would stop ringing the Friday before Easter and wouldn’t ring again until Sunday morning. The children believed that the bells would fly to Rome and would bring back bonbons and a giant chocolate egg on Easter morning. There would also be Easter egg hunts (with more delicious chocolate). Here in the United States, we personally celebrate by dying eggs, having an Easter bunny leave treats in Easter baskets, and participating in Easter egg hunts. Our family also believe in the religious aspect of the holiday and celebrate what we believe Jesus did for all of us. It’s so interesting to me to see how different cultures celebrate different holidays. If you celebrate Easter, what traditions does your family have?
We had a wonderful Easter weekend! We experimented dying our eggs naturally (red cabbage was our favorite), had so much fun doing an Easter egg hunt with friends, and watched our church’s general conference yesterday (@churchofjesuschrist). It was a great way to spend the holiday! If you celebrate Easter, what did you do?
Of course, this little guy just wanted to throw rocks in the water our entire visit. 😊 Swipe to see how delighted he was with himself.
Pioneer park is a great local spot here in Olympia. Not only does it have a great playground, it also has several walking paths down to a small river. While we haven’t tried it yet, it’s supposed to be a great spot to go floating in the summer (and for picking blackberries too). That said, it was gorgeous and empty when we went last Saturday. We loved exploring the different paths and checking out the water.
Happy Spring! This cutie and I went for a little nature walk over the weekend. I’m definitely looking forward to warmer days ahead! How are you celebrating the new season?
