Only a month late posting, but we visited the tulips here in Washington 😍
We had a wonderful time celebrating Queen Victoria’s birthday at @fortnisquallymuseum last weekend. The fort originally was part of British territory so they showcased how the Queen’s birthday would have been celebrated back in the 1800’s. Our kids had a great time learning about cannons, making tussie mussies, making lavender sachets, listening to traditional music, and learning how to play croquet by “Dr. Tolmie” himself. There was also a May pole that we sadly missed and afternoon tea. We always love our visits to the fort!
This has been such a warm May for us! I can’t believe how many times we’ve already gotten the sprinklers out and we’re not even done with school yet. When it gets super hot and we have the time, we like to venture out to the Sound. We’re lucky to have so many great options here! This particular spot is at Squaxin Park (formerly Priest Point) and has beautiful views of the Capitol and harbor. .
You probably thought I was done posting cherry blossom photos, but how could I possibly resist sharing this sweet picture of my youngest? 🥰 He finishes up preschool this week and my other two finish their homeschool stuff next week and then summer will officially begin for us! When does summer break start for all of you?
We went to @fortnisquallymuseum recently with our homeschool group and had such a great time. We’ve been often and always love it. It’s a great way to learn more about Washington’s history and the reenactors do a fantastic job making you feel like you’re back in the 1800’s. Our kids have learned about preparing wool, how the early settlers cooked and got water, how children played back then and so much more. The fort also has several special events during the year and this Saturday they’ll actually be celebrating Queen Victoria’s birthday just like the original fort would have back in 1846. We can’t wait to check it out!
Lattin’s Country Cider Mill and Farm is such a cute place to visit in Olympia. We go all the time and last month we did a special field trip with my son’s preschool. The farm sells little bags of animal food for the goats, chickens, and sheep and our kids love handing food out to the animals. When we were there in April, we saw tons of baby goats, chicks, and bunnies!
