South of France with Kids: Roman Theatre in Orange

untitled_panorama1

Our last stop in the south of France was to the Roman theatre in Orange, about a half hour from Avignon.

This theatre is the best preserved in all of Europe. Today, one can still watch different events at the theatre.

Walking up to the theatre, the first thing we noticed was the impressive theatre walls. We’ve visited other Roman theatres, Arles and Ostia Antica, but Orange has definitely been the most complete.

Walking in, there’s a little movie you can watch (we passed) and then you can walk into the theatre itself. We climbed the stairs to check out the view and to walk the corridors behind the seats.

Afterwards, we went back to the bottom of the theatre and let our girls run around a bit before heading to lunch with friends. It was a nice way to spend our morning and definitely worth a visit!
